2019 Batch “B” Stream 2 Corps Members Pass Out

The 2019 Batch B stream II members of the National Youth Service Corps pass out today, following the completion of their one-year mandatory national service. On the 20th August 2019, their service year started when orientation camps were opened for the batch across the country. The three-week-long orientation camp finished on the 9th of September 2019 when corp members left for their Places of Primary Assignment.

On the 8th of July 2020, the management of the NYSC announced the passing out stating that “Management wishes to convey to the 2019 Batch “B” (Stream II) Corps Members and indeed the Scheme’s stakeholders that the Passing-out event for the above batch has been fixed nationwide for Thursday, 16th July 2020. The event will be low-key, with qualified Corps Members collecting their Certificates of National Service (CNS) at the Local Government level. Accordingly, the distribution of the CNS shall be staggered for a period of ten days in the first instance, in keeping with the safety measures established by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).”

However in an “END OF SERVICE YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL TO THE 2019 BATCH ‘B’ STREAM TWO CORPS MEMBERS,” the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his speech to the Corp Members said: “Indeed, your laudable efforts towards national development which the various Community Development Service projects that you executed, as well as your active and timely response in combating the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic through the provision of face masks, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps, pedal-operated dispensers, palliatives, disinfectant chambers among others are all worthy of commendation. Management equally appreciates all the Corps medical personnel that enlisted to be counted as frontline soldiers in the fight against the pandemic. May God bless you all.”

He went on to state: “May I hastily admonish that you are on the threshold of launching into another phase of life, which brings forth another level of self-discovery and personal development. Therefore, I charge you to put to profitable use, the skills that you acquired under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme in the course of service, in order to become job and wealth creators, instead of searching for scarcely available white-collar jobs.
