The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko has indefinitely shut down the campus over the recent death of students as a result of the accident that occurred a few metres away from the campus gate.
The accident, which occurred on Saturday the 23rd of January 2021, claimed several lives of students of the university including the erstwhile student union president of the school, Comrade Adesomoju Tobi Samuel, popularly known as Sampraise amidst other properties.
The management has, in a circular, commiserated with the University community, families and victims of the unfortunate incident.
The students, on Sunday the 24th of January 2021, had staged a protest to call the attention of the Federal and State Governments to the incessant accident which has been occurring on the road.
However, in an updated circular dated 24th January 2021, signed by the Acting Registrar, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, the Acting Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate has directed that the University be closed immediately till further notice.
All students are therefore advised to vacate the campus by 6 pm Sunday 24th January 2021.
