The Candidate of All Progressives Congress Olufemi Sowande has been declared the winner of the Ward C Bariga LCDA, Lagos State by-election held on Tuesday, December 18th.
The INEC Returning Officer, who made the declaration of results at CMS primary school collation centre at Bariga, Lagos, said Mr Sowande polled 1,442 votes to emerge the winner and defeat his closest rival, Taiwo Sukanmi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled a total of 286 votes.
The INEC returning officer for the polls declared Mr Sowande as the winner of the councillorship by-election, having scored the highest number of votes in the election.
CAMPUS REPORTER reports that the election was conducted to fill the vacuum left by the death Solomon Awokoya.
The result announcement threw the APC supporters at the collation centre into wild jubilation.
An Electoral Commissioner of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Segun Aiyedun, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful way the exercise went, saying the commission would continue to do its best to deliver credible election in the state.
In a similar vein, The chairman of Bariga LCDA, Kolade Alabi sent his congratulatory message to the newly elected councillor, wishing him the best of luck in his capacity as a councillor. He further praised him for his resilience and commitment to the APC.
