Coronavirus: Mapoly Commences Online Lectures

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has continued its 2019/2020 first semester session online. 

This development is not unconnected to the directive of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, to reopen all higher institutions for teaching through the e-platforms.

The Minister, who had a meeting with heads of all institutions earlier in the month, gave the directive after noting the world’s uncertainty over how long the pandemic will last.

Meanwhile, the institution’s Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic chapter chairman, Babatunde Osifalujo, who confirmed this development said that the school had given a pronouncement to gradually kick start lectures.

He added that all departments have been notified and will resume the online teaching soon.

However, the Departments of Mass Communication, Business Administration, Accountancy and Hospitality Management have started engaging their students via Telegram and WhatsApp, scheduling morning and afternoon two-hour lectures for students at all levels.

It was also gathered some of the lecturers have started taking attendance for the online lectures as mandated by the management.

Some students, who confirmed this, said: “We have our time table already and we meet via telegram. At first, it was uneasy to settle the classes since everyone was just typing in messages but later it got settled. Our lecturer sent in a voice message after which we all listened, asked our questions and he replied all. “
