COVID-19: Adamawa Relaxes Restrictions

The Adamawa State Government has eased the restriction on worship places and social gatherings earlier imposed on the state following the outbreak of the coronavirus disease.

The government made this known through a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor of Adamawa State, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, on the 14th of May, 2020.

In the press release, they announced that the easing of the lockdown comes as a result of the state discharging five (5) patients from its isolation centre after testing negative for the coronavirus.

Also, the statement added that the government believes the contagion rate is low enough to justify a cautious easing of the restriction.

With this announcement, all churches, mosques and the international cattle markets under lockdown can now reopen but must ensure social distancing with no more than 50 people at a time. Other measures include the provision of hand sanitizers or spaces for washing hands and temperature checks at points of entry.

Furthermore, the government warned citizens to work extra hard on personal hygiene and adhere strictly to laid down guidelines.

However, the 8 pm to 6 am curfew will remain in place until further notice.
