COVID-19: FUOYE Reviews FG Directives, Begins Gradual Resumption

The management of the federal university Oye-Ekiti is set to call on its staff back to work from the lockdown break due to the ongoing pandemic.

Recall that the federal government announced the lockdown of schools some weeks ago in order to curb the spread of the pandemic facing the country.

Recently, the government in its effort to ease the nation of the total lockdown, announced the opening of offices for particular grades for civil servants on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm.

As a result of this, FUOYE management, through the memo released on the 5th of May, 2020 and signed by the Ag registrar, Mr Mufutau A. IBRAHIM has called on its senior staff and medical practitioners to resume work on Monday, 11th May, 2020.

The memo reads “the University Management reviewed the directives/guidelines of the Federal Government on gradual easing of the lockdown measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun States with effect from Monday, 4th May 2020 and resolved that offices should open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm”.

That those on the health line and environment should resume work on Monday 11th in order to make proper cleaning and arrangements.

“Consequently, management has approved that staff of the University Health Centre and members of the Sanitation and Environmental Committee should resume on Monday, 11th May 2020, to make necessary arrangements for the safety of members of the University Community.”

While the senior officers and head of units should resume on the 15th May 2020. “Management also approved that Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Heads of Department/Unit, senior members of staff on CONTISS 13 and above, including a few support staff, should resume duty on Friday, 15th May 2020”.

However, staff on crucial services are to be on duty while other categories await resumption.

“All staff on essential services are also to be at their duty posts while other categories of staff should await further announcement on resumption. Meanwhile, Management will continue to invite all those whose services may be required from time-to-time.”

The management, therefore, enjoined the staff to take precautions often and be protected in order to avoid coming in contact with the deadly virus.

“Members of staff are hereby implored to continue to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 which include regular washing of hands with soap and water, cleaning hands with hand sanitizers, social distancing, wearing of nose masks, avoidance of large gathering and coughing/sneezing etiquette.”
