Amid the discovery of a COVID-19 case in Ogun state, the Nigeria Medical Association in the state has urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to lock down the state before things get complicated.
The NMA state chairman, Dr Ismail Lawal, while speaking at a briefing in Abeokuta, maintained that the state cannot manage multiple cases of COVID-19.
The association insisted that shutting down of all activities in the state will prevent the state from getting more index cases in the coming weeks and a complete lockdown will be for the benefit of everybody.
He noted that the situation is an emergency and must be looked into so as to save people from getting the virus.
“Maybe tomorrow, they can say okay by tomorrow, please prepare yourself, buy whatever you want to buy.
“If the government can also come to the aid of the people, they can distribute food material.
“This is a time of emergency, whatever resources anywhere should put together to save the menace.
“It is only when we manage our people that we can work and the government can get money in the long run or in weeks to come,” he said.
