Drug Abuse: UNIZIK Students Collaborate With NDLEA

The executives of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Students’ Union Government, on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Anambra State command, Sule Momodu in his Awka office.

The commander expressed delight at the visit of the SU members to discuss the various ways to curb drug abuse among the students on the campus.

This has implications for the objective of ensuring the students’ healthy lifestyle, he said.

Speaking further, he pointed out the various challenges being faced by the agency as regards the way some students engage in the illicit drug trade and abuse.

He stated that they have been receiving several reports from the UNIZIK campus on drug abuse.

He pleaded with the SU led by Igwebuike Ikenna to help him raise the campaign among his fellow students, warning that any person found guilty of an illicit drug use will be punished according to the law.

The president of the SU Mr Ikenna in his speech thanked the Commander for his time and fatherly advice to the students.

He promised to work in tandem with the drug enforcement agency to create a healthy environment for the students.

Meanwhile, the UNIZIK management announced the timetable for 2017/2018 exams on Thursday.

The timetable runs between March 12 and April 18 but, in between, convocation ceremonies are slated for March 19 to March 23.
