#EndSWAT: “I Did not Sponsor Thugs,” Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Maintains

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Obasa has debunked the rumours peddled against him, painting him as the sponsor of the thugs who routinely disrupt the #EndSARS protest in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.

In a video circulating across social media platforms, some miscreants in their twenties were seen invading the protest ground to disrupt the protest with harmful objects in their hands to scare away the protesters from converging––an effort which proved abortive with the protesters showing resilience and counter-attacking the miscreants.

Through her official Twitter handle at 12:09 pm, Oby Ezekwesili (@Obyezeks) asked the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide SanwoOlu who the alleged is and asked that he investigate the matter:  “@jidesanwoolu please who is Obasa that is alleged as the person hiring thugs to attack #EndSARS #EndSWAT protesters at the Alausa grounds?”

“Please investigate and stop him o.”

“Best not to worsen an already bad situation.”

“Allow citizens their peaceful protests.”

Responding to the question raised by Oby Ezekwesili via his Twitter handle, (@Mudashiru_Obasa) at 12:37 pm, Hon. Obasa debunked the allegations and his knowledge of such acts by the miscreants. “Madam @obyezeks, I am Obasa, and I support #EndSARS, I did not and will not disrupt [the] peaceful protest.”
