The Chief Security Officer of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Mr Paul Ogidi, has urged students of the university to always seek help from the school’s security unit whenever they need to.
He said this in an interview with UCJ FUOYE on the 15th of August, 2019.
He noted that a majority of students do not report security incidents to the unit in the university, which has the role of ensuring the security of lives and property of the students.
According to the CSO, students should be confident enough to walk down to the security unit and discuss any matter that might be affecting them.
Additionally, he said that the students should see the security unit as the only place they can always go to report cases like robbery attacks, threats, oppression, victimisation, fights etc.
“They should see the security officers as their friends and always walk up to them anytime. The students should not be afraid of coming to report issues to us,” he said.
“We are here not because of anyone else but the entire students and we urge them all to always get in touch with us,” he added.
Speaking on how they can be contacted, he said the students should reach out to him and the security units through the following phone numbers:
For Oye campus, they can always contact 07034314002, 08038667646 and 08155711591.
While those in Ikole campus can call 08064464746, 08166285934, 08039615522 between 7 am and 6 pm every day.
