Two weekends ago, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti officially enrolled new students into the institution during its 8th matriculation event held at the New Science Auditorium, Phase 2.
The occasion was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Dean of Students Affairs, Bursar, Medical Director, Head of Security and principal officers amongst other invited dignitaries.
While speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Soremekun, congratulated all the students and parents for witnessing such a great occasion.
He challenged the students to “always go up and never come down” and advised them to be diligent and industrious in their academic pursuits.
Notably, at the end of his speech, he said: “I hope to see you all in the next four years for your convocation ceremony. Avoid all negative behaviours and be focused.”
At the end of the ceremony, some matriculants interviewed expressed their joy at the event and their optimism towards being able to graduate in a few years.
Tolulope Akande from Theatre and Media Arts said: “it’s actually a thing of joy. I have been looking forward to today. It was a success and I give glory to God.”
Another student identified as Gbemisola Akintoye from English Education said: “I am very happy to be matriculated into the school and am very sure one day, which is in the next four years, I will witness the convocation as well.”
