The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), on Monday the 27th of June 2022, announced the collection of certificates by the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 graduands.
The development, which was announced through an internal memorandum released by the Office of the Registrar, was entitled: “Notification On The Collection Of Certificates By The 2018/2019 And 2019/2020 Graduands.”
Recall that the graduands of the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 sets demanded the release of their certificates in October 2021 but the University management assured that the certificates will be ready for collection in February 2022. However, to the dismay of the graduands, the certificates were not ready for collection as declared by the school management.
According to an informal statement released by the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 sets, over fifty individuals from the two sets have forfeited scholarship opportunities because they did not have their certificates.
“Setting the records straight with receipts of happening in the past few months, over 50 individuals among 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 set have lost scholarship opportunities,” part of the statement reads.
However, the University management under the leadership of Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina has finally given a clear stance on the collection of certificates by the aggrieved graduands.
The certificates are said to be ready for collection but due to the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Unions across the universities nationwide, the collection of certificates has been put on hold temporarily until the strike is called off.
“However, due to the ongoing National Industrial Action embarked upon by the Unions across the Nigerian Universities, collection of certificates has been put on hold temporarily until the strike is called off,” the internal memorandum partly reads.
In addition to this, the school management stated that the concerned graduands will be required to present their original statement of result, student identity card, two passport photographs, convocation fee receipt and alumni receipt as part of the requirements needed for the collection process.
The University management then assured the graduands that the collection of certificates will commence as soon as the strike is over.
