The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, Professor Kayode Soremekun, has set up a twelve-man investigative panel to unravel the cause of Tuesday’s protest which led to the death of two people and an alleged attack on Chief Mrs Erelu Fayemi, the Wife of the Governor of the state.
This was announced in a press release signed by Mr Olatunbosun SE Odusanya, the Director of Administration for the institution, yesterday.
He explained that the committee was set up to investigate the root cause of the action and prevent a future occurrence.
The panel is headed by the FUOYE’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, while Mrs Blessing Eyiolorunpe is the Secretary.
Other members of the panel include Mr Paul Ogidi, Chief Security Officer; Dr Dosu Malomo, Dean of Students Affairs; Mr Mufutaau Ibrahim, Council Affairs Office; Dr Chika Asoqua, Representatives of Nigeria Police, DSS, National Association of Nigeria Students, Department of State Security and the NSCDC.
The University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Godfrey Bakje, in a telephone conversation, confirmed the setting up of the panel to investigate the death of students.
