The Clerk of the Student Representative Council of the FUOYE Student Union has been suspended indefinitely.
This decision was made at the sitting held on the 20 November 2018 at Lecture Theatre 1, Faculty of Arts building.
Olaosebikan Jegede, representative of Theatre and Media Arts moved a motion for his suspension and the clerk whose real name is Olorundero Pelumi representing Agricultural Economics and Extension (AEE) Constituency was eventually suspended after the quorum unanimously consented.
Speaking to CAMPUS REPORTER, Ahmed Usman, the Deputy Speaker who is also the Acting Speaker of the House affirmed the Clerk’s suspension.
He further added that he was suspended because “he is currently with the funds of the house and he has been ordered to remit it as at 24th of last month. He is yet to do that and some members of the house who are being owed that are to be paid some amount of money have not been paid, for up to like two months now.”
Also “there was an agreement which he signed. He was to make the…payment to those individuals as at Tuesday last week and till today, 20th of November, he is yet to do the transfer and yet to remit the balance of the funds with him. The deadline for remitting the balance of the funds was 12 am today and he is yet to do so”.
Speaking on the duration of the suspension, he added that “he is being suspended until… he remits everything and gives a reasonable explanation as to why he is yet to make the transfer as at today.”
As at the time of writing this report, all efforts to reach the Clerk proved abortive. While two of his lines gotten were switched off. The other was unreachable.
