Governor Ayade Appoints New Acting VC for CRUTECH

The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has approved the appointment of Professor Augustine Oko Angba as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH).

Professor Angba is a professor of Agricultural Extension in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, at the University of Calabar.

Born on 4th May 1969, Professor Angba attended the University of Ibadan where he obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agricultural Economics and Extension. He also holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Extension from the same university.

Prof. Angba also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Management (PGDE) and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar.

He has held various positions at the University of Calabar, including Head of Department Agricultural Economics and Extension, Deputy Director, Research and Dean of Faculty of Agriculture. He was also Rector of the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Ugep, Cross River State.

Within the space of one year, the state-owned university has now witnessed the appointment of three Acting Vice-Chancellors, since the tenure of the last substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, elapsed in May 2019.

Governor Ayade appointed Professor Mrs Akon Joshua, the University’s first female Acting Vice-Chancellor, to replace Professor Enoh. She served for six months, before the appointment of Professor David Ogar Abua who was acting Vice-Chancellor for three months.

Professor Augustine Angba takes over from Professor David Ogar Abua whose tenure elapsed in April 2020. His appointment, which will last for a duration of 3 months, takes immediate effect.
