A mother of five children, resident in the Mbiabam Ibiono community of Akwa Ibom State, was Monday morning killed, allegedly, by his husband.
The slain woman, identified as Bella by neighbours who spoke with our correspondent, was said to have been slaughtered with a machete by her husband, a vulcanizer, called Nkere-Uta.
The spokesperson for the police in Akwa Ibom, Odiko Mcdon, confirmed the suspected murder to CAMPUS REPORTER.
Mr Mcdon disclosed that the suspect, Mr Nkere-Uta had been arrested by the police division of Itam Local Government Area, which covered Mbiabam Ibiono community, 15 minutes’ drive from Uyo, the state capital.
He said the suspect would be charged to the court upon completion of an investigation.
One of the neighbours, Mfon Udoh, said the deceased was “a petty trader and was well loved by all.”
However, neither the police nor the shocked neighbours volunteered to tell us what knew as a possible reason for Mr Nkere-Uta’s alleged murder of his wife.
