Jubilation as Kogi Varsity Students Get Scholarships

Some students of the Faculty of Law in Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Ayingba, Kogi State, have been awarded scholarships by Muizudeen Abdullahi, a legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of  Nigeria (SAN).

This happened weeks after the lawyer announced his plans to award scholarships to exceptional students of the institution.

The recipients of the scholarships are students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the 2022/2023 academic session from 200-level to final year.

While Hope Oluwafemi, a 200-level student of the faculty received N139,000, Rehoboth Enewo; a 300-level student, Miriam Omede; a 400-level and Ufedojo Okoliko; a 500-level student got N46,000 each.

Elated by the kind gesture of the philanthropist, Okoliko said the scholarship has relieved her of some financial burdens.

“The scholarship has definitely made life easier financially for me and for my sponsors. It’s like lifting a great weight off our shoulders,” she said. “This scholarship keeps me motivated to do well in school because it shows me that hard work pays off. It’s like a great push to keep going and fuels my determination to do better”.

On her part, Oluwafemi said the scholarship is a drive to work harder as there is a reward for hard work.

“This scholarship has encouraged me to do better in my academics, to strive harder as there’s a reward for hard work.

In his reaction, Friday Ekpa, who represented Mr Abdullahi, told our reporter that the scholarship initiative is geared towards encouraging law students in PAAU to strive for excellence and also a means to give back to the alma mater of the lawyer.

“The scholarship is simply to encourage diligence among students of Prince Abubakar Audu University. We want to encourage law students to put in their best and come out with flying colours. It is our way of ensuring healthy academic competition, particularly amongst law students.

“Efforts are ongoing to make it an annual initiative, by God’s grace, we are going to sustain it annually and with time, we may consider the best graduating student for scholarship award to the Nigerian law school.”

He congratulated the pioneer recipients of the scholarship and encouraged other students to study hard and uphold excellence in their academics.
