The Kwara State Government has widened the campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic from one local government to another in a bid to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
This was contained in a tweet by the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19.
Recall that on July 23rd, 2020, CAMPUS REPORTER published a report on how poor community sensitisation and the loose enforcement of safety measures foster the breach of COVID-19 protocols in Kwara communities. CAMPUS REPORTER also reported on how the state government took the campaign on sensitisation to Offa Local Government on Friday, August 24th, 2020.
Now, the Governor has sent another three (3) delegates to three (3) districts in Edu Local Government Area in Kwara to sensitise people in the community on safety protocols prescribed by World Health Organizations (WHO).
The statement clarified that “the campaign is in furtherance of the ongoing efforts by the State to flatten the curve of Covid-19 pandemic in the State.”
While advising the people of the community on adhering to safety measures, the team leader, Zubair Ibrahim Dan-Maigoro, on behalf of the team warned residents of the area against jungle justice insisting that the Government will not fold its arms and watch people go lawless.
They also delivered facemasks and hand sanitizers to the district leaders in the local government.
As at 30th of August 2020, the total number of recorded cases in the state is 961, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
