Minister Dalung, PREMIUM TIMES’ Boss Olorunyomi Headline Journalism Awards

Sports minister Solomon Dalung and the publisher of PREMIUM TIMES, Dapo Olorunyomi, will headline the Campus Journalism Awards ceremony holding next week in Abuja.

According to the organisers of the ceremony, the Youths Digest magazine, Mr. Olorunyomi, veteran journalist and chief executive of the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism, will be attending as the guest speaker to deliver a speech on “Curbing Hate Speech on Social Media”.

The ceremony holds on Saturday, March 24 at the Roses Hotel, Wuye District of Abuja.

According to the editor of the magazine, Gidado Shuaib, top public functionaries, editors and campus journalists would attend the ceremony.

Mr. Dalung, is the invited special guest of honour, Mr. Shuaib said.

“The Publisher of the Premium Times Newspaper, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi as the Guest Speaker will speak on Curbing Hate Speech on Social Media while the Minister of Youths and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung will serve as Special Guest of Honour among other top dignitaries,” Mr. Shuaib said.

He further disclosed that twenty students from various universities in the country have been shortlisted to receive different categories of the awards of excellence in campus journalism.

“The award winners in the maiden Campus Journalism Award were carefully shortlisted by the Award Committee after a vigorous screening of nominations for different categories.

“The winners whose names will be announced at the event come from different higher institutions in Nigeria including federal, state and private universities as well as from Polytechnics,” he said.

Also, four Campus Reporters undergoing training under Premium Times Centre For Investigative Journalism have been shortlisted among the finalists for the award. The shortlisted trainees are Adejumo Kabir, Olufemi Alfred, Haleem Olatunji and Alao Joshua.
