The National Association of Nigeria Campus Editors (NANCE) has inaugurated a new executive team for 2022/2023 to oversee its affairs and steer campus journalism into impact.
The inauguration occurred on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Abusi, Ijebu Igbo. The outgoing executive, Tope Adeleye, anchored it. Caleb Ijeoma, the Executive Director of Roundcheck and inaugural chairman, opened the event. He acknowledged the progress of NANCE from oblivion to installing its presence in many institutions across the country in the previous regime. A Punch reporter, Titilola Babatunde Oladayo, a member of NANCE, delivered a lecture on Journalism Ethics and Review.
Awards and certificates were also presented to outstanding members of the outgoing executive board.
Members of the new board of executives inaugurated are President Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi; Vice President Orogwu Timothy Obinna; General Secretary Rahma Jimoh; Regional head, South, Ogorchukwu Onyinye; Financial Secretary Precious Okafor; Regional Head Southwest, Muyiwa Adekojede; Public Relations Officer, Temiloluwa Erinle and Bolaji Badmus as Public Relations Officer 2.
In his presidential speech, the outgoing president, Adeleke Yusuf Olatunji, thanked members of NANCE for their unwavering support in his tenure and wished the new executives a smooth ride while also emphasizing the challenges he encountered during his tenure he said.
“The journey was stormy and rough, but to God be the glory, we see the end of it in peace and not in pieces.”
The inaugurating president, Omoniyi Oluwaferanmi Jeremiah, also pledged to continue the excellent work of his predecessors. He reinstated the need for unity and cooperation among all members.
“We would like to do beyond our successor, and for us to achieve this, your support is essential. The Association welcomes your ideas and resources both in cash and kind for her sustainability,” he said.
