NECO Releases Timetable for 2020 Examinations

The National Examinations Council (NECO) that conduct the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) for students of Senior Secondary School 3, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior Secondary School 3 students and the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for primary 6 pupils seeking to enter the Federal Unity Colleges around the country has released the timetable for the conduct of the 2020 examinations. The examinations have been delayed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country. 

In the documents signed by the Director of Examination Administration, Abubakar Gana, the NCEE is scheduled for Saturday 17th October, the one-day examination which consists of Paper I and Paper II comes up between 7:30 am and 3 pm according to the timetable. The BECE which is scheduled to span two weeks will start with Creative and Cultural Arts on Monday, 24th August and end with the different Nigerian languages (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik and Ibibio) on Friday 4th September.

The Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, which has been subjected to the controversy, is also fixed for Monday 5th October to Saturday 14th November. 

On 22nd May, NECO got a new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Godswill Obioma replaced Abubakar Gana who was acting in the capacity prior to the time.

The period of the examinations falls within the timeline announced for them by the Federal Ministry of Education in a press release made available last week. Also, the registration of NECO-SSCE which is still ongoing is expected to come to an end on 10th September. The timetables are below:
