Nigerians ‘Christen’ NY Musician With A Yoruba Name As Davido Prepares To Feature In Music Collaboration

Brooklyn and New York Based Artiste, Enisa Nikaj, popularly known by the stage name, Enisa, has been christened with a Yoruba name by Nigerians.

The new name, Eniola, was given to her on the popular social media platform, Twitter. She accepted to be called this name through her Twitter handle, @IamEnisa as she tweeted: “The people have spoken, so here I am as Eniola for my people‼️???”

A Twitter user who was confused over her origins asked if she is a Nigerian and Enisa replied: “The Enisa side of me is like half Nigerian but…..Eniola, the newly named side of me (my alter ego) is full Naija ????”

Enisa, who is a singer and songwriter showed up for Nigerians during the #EndSARS protests and lent her support over the incessant and illegal act of police brutality. “Eniola” was also known for covering artists like Adele which she shared social media before she gained her current level of popularity from the release of her song, Love cycle. She had released her first single titled “Burn This Bridge” in 2016 and also “Dumb Boy” in 2020.

Famous Nigerian singer, Davido, who is the boss of the OBO record label, has shown interest in featuring her on her song, “Love Cycle.”

This followed Enisa’s tweet: “Who do you guys want on the “Love Cycle” remix?? Tag them & let’s make it happen‼️? ❤️” to which fans responded, indicating their desire to hear Davido feature. 

Davido confirmed this with a “Let’s do it,” tweet while Enisa retweeted with “OMG‼️‼️❤️ ENISA ft DAVIDO “Love Cycle” (Remix) COMING SOON ?”

However, fans of Wizkid has alleged that Davido would spoil the remix collaboration by the time it is released for listening.

Enisa’s number of social media followers has been on the rise since this interaction and she tweeted her appreciation while stating that she woke up to 70,000 followers. 

As it is, Nigerians seem to have found a new foreign female love, following the ongoing affair with American rapper, Cardi B.
