NSCDC operative shoots senatorial candidate in APC victory party

Tragedy struck in Imo on Sunday the 26th of January as Nduibisi Emenike, the 2019 senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance party in Imo North Senatorial District, was shot by an agent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The NSCDC officer was an aide to the AA senatorial candidate and escorted him to the victory party for the All Progressives Congress’ Miriam Onuoha, the winner of the Okigwe North Federal Constituency rerun elections held on Saturday.

Miriam Onuoha had just been announced the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission of the elections when the party was organised at the candidate’s house at Umunachi in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

The officer reportedly shot his boss mistakenly in the abdomen while shooting sporadically into the air.

Speaking on the development, the Police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed that the incident had been reported to the police.

Mr Orlando assured that the command will speak properly on the incident once it had finished gathering the details.

However, this reporter gathered that the politician was still receiving treatment at FMC, Owerri as at the time of filing this report.
