OAU Announces Activities To Kickstart 60th Anniversary Celebration

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has released the list of activities that will be used to kickstart the 60th anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) celebration of the institution.

The activities, which will last for a week, were announced in a statement signed by Professor Charles Ukeje, Chairman 60th Anniversary Celebration Committee of the institution.

The statement, which was released on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Management of the University, explains that “the anniversary committee is very delighted to invite members of the university community, as well as friends and well-wishers to the activities, lined up to kickstart the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of our University, Great Ife.”

The first activity is the Interdenominational Church Service which will hold on Sunday the 6th of June, 2021 at the All Soul’s Chapel located on the religious grounds of the institution by 10:00 am. On Tuesday the 8th of June is the world press conference scheduled to take place at the Floor O, University Hall by 10:00 am, after which the official launch of the 60th Anniversary Logo will take place at the University Quadrangle (Motion Ground) by 12:00 noon.

The next activity is the Novelty Football Match which will take place at the Main Bowl of the Sports Complex on Wednesday 9th June 2021 by 4:00 pm. The last activity to round off the kickstart of the anniversary is the Jumat Service on Friday 11th June 2021 at the OAU Central Mosque by 1:00 pm.

The statement noted that further details on events until the 45th Convocation Ceremony in December 2021 will be announced in due course.
