The probe panel set up by the management of Obafemi Awolowo University, last week, following the leak of the sex-for-mark audio that got the university reeling in public attention, has submitted an interim report.
The probe panel, consisting of undisclosed ‘high-powered’ officials, submitted the report on Wednesday, meeting the one-week term instructed the Vice-Chancellor, Eyitope Ogunbodede last Wednesday.
The spokesperson for the school, Abiodun Olanrewaju, confirmed the submission of the report to our correspondent early Thursday.
Mr Olanrewaju declined to comment when asked for findings and recommendations of the report. All these, he said, however, would be made public by Friday after the VC’s consideration.
“The Vice Chancellor and the team will look into it,” he said. “We will make official pronouncement either on Thursday (today) or Friday. Bear with us”
The leaked audio contained a salacious conversation between a professor, identified as Richard Akindele by the university and a female student, with the former ‘ostensibly’ demanding sex to pass the latter. Several persons, including a cleric and members of the Anglican Church where Mr Akindele is also a Reverend, have also said the male voice in the audio was that of Mr Akindele of the management and accounting department at the University.
The University said the conversation suggested sexual harassment, which the VC described as an ‘apparent breach’ of the university regulations, code of conduct for the university community and the sexual harassment policy of the school.
CAMPUS REPORTER gathered Mr Akindele appeared before the panel but the lady did not. i
A student of the institution who identified himself as Segun told CAMPUS REPORTER that Mr Akindele was in MBA 645 (Human Resource Management) class between 10-11am last Saturday.
But a source in his church said he has not been attending services since the incident happened.
The source said:”We have not seen him in church since the incident occurred. However, the family is doing great. Myself and my husband visited the wife some days back and she maintained that devil is only trying that God will vindicate her spouse”
