OAU students to get loan, free recreational services from Sterling Bank

The Sterling Bank on Thursday at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, launched a project named the Snap Cash, which includes recreational facilities, a mini library, and a make-up session.

The Snap Cash, a temporary intervention, will last for three months, the spokesperson for the bank, Daphne Akatugba, said.

Ms Akatugba added that the initiative was the bank’s corporate social responsibility to the OAU community in which the bank has a branch.

The facilities at the Snap Cash, including snooker and football viewing space, will be enjoyed freely for three months by the students.

“As you know that the world cup is ongoing, students can come here to view the matches. The bicycles here will be rented at a very low cost likewise and chops and drinks at the bar will be subsidized too,” said the bank official.

She added that students with an existing Sterling bank will be entitled to N50,000 loan while new accounts to be will be able to access N10, 000 loans.

“After providing necessary details, they are entitled to a loan which should be refunded within the space of 3 months,” Ms Akatugba told CAMPUS REPORTER.

Several students, including Adegoke Boluwatife and Oladosu Lukman, expressed excitement over the Sterling Bank’s initiative which enables them to not only enjoy some recreational and learning services freely for a limited period but also affords them access to small loans.
