In its efforts to ensure a clean environment, the management of Ondo State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has commenced a compulsory monthly sanitation exercise, CAMPUS REPORTER learnt.
The sanitation exercise is to be conducted around the university’s community every second Wednesday of the month.
The Registrar of the institution, Sunday Ayeerun, stated in a circular that the commencement of the exercise was as a result of the report earlier submitted by the Committee on Environmental Sanitation.
The Committee had observed the poor waste management by students and other residents of the university community.
The Registrar in his words said, “I write to inform members of staff, students & other members of the University Community that the University Management after considering the report of the Committee on Environmental Sanitation at its meeting held on July 17, 2018, approved that second Wednesday of every month should be set aside for University-wide sanitation exercise between the hours of 9 am and 10 am effective from September 2018.”
He further added that no one is left out of the sanitation exercise as “members of staff, students who are resident on campus and business operators in the University’s commercial areas will be involved in the monthly sanitation exercise.”
