The Ooni of Ife, Enitan Adeyeye, has denied betraying Elizabeth Odunlami, a woman who claims the monarch promised to marry her.
Ms Odunlami made the claim on Facebook on Monday, further alleging that Oba Adeyeye had even used her name for business concerns which were worth millions in dollars.
This was just days after the monarch got married to Naomi Shilekunola, an Akure-based evangelist, 14 months after his earlier marriage to Wuraola Otiti had failed.
Ms Odunlami said she was humiliated by the monarch – the reason he went public,
“Kabiyesi Enitan Ogunwusi, I’m thanking you for the disappointment after using my biological name to execute your contract from Mr John in California,” she stated. “As a matter of fact, you promised to make me your next queen before Naomi. Whenever I asked you if you have someone, you are always in denial.”
However, in a statement signed by the Ooni Palace’s Director, Media & Public Affairs, Moses Olafare, on Wednesday, the monarch denied Ms Odunlami’s allegations.
“While we sympathize with Miss Elizabeth Odunlami (if the identity is real) who obviously has become a victim of a fraudulent act perpetrated by a scammer disguising to be Ooni Ogunwusi, we find it pertinent to debunk this sacrilegious and unfounded allegation which is not unlikely to be another calculated ploy adopted by some unprovoked detractors using pseudo-identities,” Mr. Olafare stated.
He then warned the public to discard anyone presenting himself as the royal father to perpetrate evil.
“Good members of the public especially ladies are hereby cautioned against communicating with anyone presenting himself to be the Ooni Ogunwusi and swiftly report such a matter or person to the relevant security agencies,” he said.
Meanwhile, after the statement was released, we observed Ms Odunlami had deleted the post from her Facebook timeline.
