Physical Lectures Begin At Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro

The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, resumed physical lectures on Monday the 12th of October after it was shut down for seven months by the Federal Government to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The school resumes following the directives of Federal Government for the safe reopening of schools, where authorities must ensure COVID-19 safety protocols are observed on campus. Luckily, the school management has put in place all necessary safety measures to ensure all safety procedures are being adhered to.

In ensuring the COVID-19 protocols are observed on campus upon resumption, the management warned that students will not be allowed access into the institution without using a face mask.

The sitting arrangements have been set to standards to match the social distancing rule, unmarked seats are meant for sitting while marked seats are not meant for sitting.

The management earlier announced that the institution will resume on October 12, in a memo with reference number DR/A/AC/071A/Vol.XVIII/058 dated Tuesday, September 29th.

According to the memo, the second semester will run for eleven (11) weeks which begins today Monday, October 12, 2020. Lectures will be conducted for eight (8) weeks, while Examination begins immediately for three (3) weeks after the completion of the lecture period.

It added that HND 1, ND 1 and ND 1PT will receive lectures Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while the Final year HND 2, ND 2, and ND 2PT students will receive lectures Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and for the completion of their projects as part of the social distancing rules given by the institution. Students whose levels are not having lecture for a particular day will not be allowed into the institution premises so as to allow students to adhere to the social distancing rule.

Management has put a disinfectant booth in place at the school entrance, which is being used by students before accessing the school premises. 

The management, in ensuring proper hygiene rules are followed on campus, has put handwashing stations and spray sanitizers at the entrance of each classroom for students and lecturers.
