Students Congratulate Prof. Muhammad Bande on Completion of his UN Presidency

On the 16th of September 2020, the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPPS) of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) under the presidency of Comrade Abdulmajid Bala Kangiwa, sent their congratulatory message to the 74th president of the United Nations General Assembly, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad Bande on completion of his tenure in the office.

Professor Emeritus Tijjani Muhammad-Bande OFR was born on the 7th of December 1957. He is a Nigerian diplomat, academic and political scientist. He was the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations from 2010 to 2016, he was the Director-General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru and was the Vice-Chancellor of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, from 2004 to 2009.

Professor Muhammad Bande is known for many great achievements in life and for being a role model to many. He assumed the office of the President of United Nations General Assembly on the 17th of September 2019 and ended his tenure on the 15th of September 2020, after previously serving as the Vice President from September 2016.

Abdulmajid Bala Kangiwa, the president of the National Association of Political Science Students, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto chapter, on behalf of his members, sent his congratulatory message to the successful living icon.

The letter contained in the association’s letterhead reads:

“On behalf of the entire students of political science of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto we would like to warmly congratulate you as your tenure comes to an end as the president of the United Nations General Assembly.

“When you were elected president of the 74th session of the UNGA, we proudly told everyone that the United Nations has made the right decision. Now, the whole world is celebrating you and singing your praises, everyone has come to appreciate your unique style of leadership.

“You have made the entire students of politics, Nigeria and the whole world proud by the way you perfectly led the 74th administration of the United Nations General Assembly, you have indeed displayed a high level of good morals, dedication and sacrifice, we are proud of you, sir and would continue to look up to you as a rightful role model.

“At the end, we wish you all the best as you continue to rightfully and competently represent our dear country Nigeria at the United Nations.”
