Two students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti in Ekiti State were recognised for academic excellence at the just-concluded Royal African Young Leadership Forum Award 2022.
Tijani Abdulmalik Damilola, a 400 level student of Physics, and Oke Emmanuel Omotola, a 400 level student of Theatre and Media Arts, were selected after undergoing a strict selection process conducted for students from various universities.
The Royal African Young Leadership Forum Award was launched in 2020 under the Global Outreach initiative of his Imperial Majesty.
The award is an achievement award recognising the ambition and success stories of millions of 20-39 years old across the globe who are actively participating in their community and pushing through personal boundaries.
RAYLF Award categories include Tech and Innovation, Creative Culture, Government and Leadership, Academic Excellence as well as Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.
Under ‘Academic Excellence,’ these two students came out successful among their peers.
Abdulmalik expressed his happiness and said he sees the award as a trigger to continue moving forward in his academic and socio-economic path.
“I see the award as a call for me to give back to the society and it’s quite rewarding to be part of the awardees,” he clarified.
For Emmanuel, he noted that he sees the award as an honour, being amid great minds and well-to-do individuals.
“After the award, I will do more, continue doing what I do before the awards and be consistent at it,” Emmanuel said.
With these achievements, there is no iota of doubt that young people can be excellent academically.
