In a feature on the maiden edition of a radio programme today, the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola, announced that the 9th Convocation Ceremony of the institution will be done virtually. The convocation is expected to feature the Class of 2018/2019 Graduating Set.
The University earlier announced the launching of “an educative radio program to proffer solutions to developmental challenges in the country,” the programme, tagged: “UNIOSUN Solution Forum” is to be aired by 2 pm on Tuesdays on Rave FM where certified, skilled and unbiased professionals in various fields in the University will be enlightening and engaging the masses on trending societal challenges while proffering practical and sustainable solutions for the government and the public at large.
On the radio program, monitored by this reporter, Professor Popoola said: “Our convocation normally is September 21 of every year, we are not going to bring everybody to Osogbo, we are going to do our convocation online.”
He also highlighted other strides that have been embarked upon by the University including the Covid-19 Sanitizing Cubicle that was recently produced by the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University.
Osun State University had earlier conducted an online matriculation ceremony for 2019/2020 Freshmen on the 13th of May 2020.
Recall that the Grand Finale of the 8th Convocation, which took place at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium at the main campus of the university in Osogbo on 21st September 2019, saw the university play host to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who delivered the Convocation Lecture at the event.
