Varsity Students Debate Anti-Corruption Methods

A final-year student of the Department of Information and Computer Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Peter Abiaku, has emerged the winner of an inter-school debate held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on Thursday.

It held at the Chisco Transport Building on the UNIZIK campus.

The inter-school debate, with the theme: ‘Let’s Bounce Corruption’, is an initiative of the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth and Advancement (YIAGA), aimed at giving the youth an avenue to speak out on the ills of the society and possible means to eradicate them.

The debate which holds annually in the six geopolitical zones of the country kicked off today with FUTO emerging winner and the UNIZIK clinching the second best position in the South East category.

The winners from the six zones will consequently meet to debate at the national level.

Speaking after the event, the winner, Mr Abiaku, stated that the Nigerian youth are not passive to the corrupt activities in the country and are taking up roles for their voices to be heard.

He expressed gratitude to the YIAGA for the opportunity given to the youth, especially undergraduates to air their views on how to combat corruption and chalk out a new path for the society.
