A group of young people and supporters of the former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala H Nyako have distributed food items to Internally Displaced Persons residing in Yola.
The group, known as the Nyako Supporters Group, distributed 50 packets of spaghetti and two half bags of rice to IDPs in an effort to help in reducing the hardship of the refugees.
Delivering the items, the Acting Chairman of the association, Abubakar Jalo Elhaps, said the reason for the gesture is to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs and recognise the contribution of their political mentor, Admiral Murtala H. Nyako, to the humanitarian-development of the people of Adamawa State, especially women and youth, during his tenure as a governor of Adamawa State.
Abubakar further said members of the association have tasked themselves to contribute money in carrying out this programme.
He, therefore, called on the Adamawa State government to emulate the Baba Mai Mangoro Policy, especially in the areas of youth empowerment, in order to solve the socio-economic problem that the state capital is facing, especially with the notorious group known as the Shila boys.
Receiving the food items, the Chairman of Malkoyi IDPs, Mr Lawrence Weda, thanked the Nyako Support Group for their effort in considering the Malkoyi IDP Camp.
He further described the youth as good ambassadors and encouraged other youths to emulate them.
The Nyako Support Group was established in 2015 with the sole aim to defend and support the good policies and programmes of the former governor Murlata H Nyako in an effort to ensure its sustainability.
