Nigeria Super Eagles have been drawn with Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in Group D of the delayed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which comes up next year in Cameroon.
The draw ceremony for the 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon took place on Tuesday 17th August 2021, at the Yaounde Conference Centre, Yaounde, Cameroon.
The tournament will take place in six selected stadiums: The Paul Biya Stadium and Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in the capital Yaoundé, the Japoma Stadium in Douala, the Limbe Stadium in Limbe, the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam and the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua. The opening ceremony as well as the opening match of the tournament and the final are set to take place at the newly built 60,000 capacity Paul Biya Stadium in Yaoundé.
Cameroon, in Group A, will kick off the event against Burkina Faso with Ethiopia and Cape Verde Island also in the group.
The complete groups in the first stage of the tournament:
Group A: Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cape Verde Islands.
Group B: Senegal, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Malawi.
Group C: Morocco, Ghana, Comoros Islands, Gabon.
Group D: Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Guinea-Bissau.
Group E: Algeria, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire.
Group F: Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, The Gambia.
The tournament last won by Algeria in 2019, will kick off on the 9th of January and ends on the 6th of February 2022.
