Ogun State University Matriculates 5912 Students

The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, has matriculated a total of 5,912 students for the 2017/2018 session.

The matriculation ceremony held on Friday at the Large Lecture Theatre 2 of the institution, owned by Ogun State.

In his address, the vice-chancellor of the institution, Ganiyu Olatunde, said 227 students were admitted to Faculty of Administration, 461 to Faculty of Arts, 470 to Basic Medical Science, 1,521 to Faculty of Education, 210 to the faculty of Law.

Further, he said 89 students were matriculated in the Faculty of Pharmacy, 67 in Clinical Science, 1,162 students in Science, 1,199 in Social Sciences, 431 in Architecture and 475 in Engineering and Environmental Studies

The VC also congratulated the students and appreciated their parents for the opportunity given to them to start the new journey.

He said, “The ceremony is so special as it marks a new beginning for the new students. The citadel of learning provides creative activities for the students and in the last five to six years, we have recorded different outstanding success as we improve significantly in academics and infrastructural development.

“The much-needed facility has provided a lot of conducive environment including with entrepreneur training to acquire skills in different areas beyond the four walls of the class to become future employers.”

The Vice Chancellor also promised that the university will meet up to the demands of the students as they are warned to shun cultism.

“On our part, we are working to make sure the university attends to all demands of students,” he said. “However, the students should adhere to the laws provided in their handbook and never to disrupt the school activities or damage school properties.”

“The university has zero tolerance to cultism and we hope none of you will partake in such disastrous acts.”

“In as much as I am happy, I will be happier if strike does not elongate my stay in this school,” said Ibrahim Kewuyemi, one of the newly matriculated students.
