Crisis Averted In OAU As Police Apprehend Four Cult Leaders

Barely three weeks after a gang of cultists, known as the “Cultists of Aloha clan,” threatened to invade OAU campus on Saturday the 1st of June in a mission “to rain bullets of death, sorrow and grief on innocent students,” the Osun State Police Command has apprehended four cult leaders in Ile-Ife.

The University campus bore a strong resemblance to a ghost town in the early hours of Saturday, June 1st, as most of the students fled to their various homes, while the remaining students cowered in fear, waiting upon the imminent attack.

Since receiving the initial threat from the cultists, the imminent attack remained a hot topic for students online and offline. On the social media platform, Twitter, students from the OAU campus and other schools have talked about the threat, using the hashtag: “#WinterInOAU” and this has further escalated fear amongst students and parents alike.

In an attempt to avert the purported attack, the University management invited various security agencies to the OAU campus to provide adequate security for staff, students and others working on the campus.

Luckily, the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Osun State Police Command announced the apprehension of four cult leaders, alleviating the air of tension that had gripped the school. The arrested culprits have been identified as students of the neighbouring University, Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu.

In an interview with a senior Police Officer in the area, he mentioned that “security networking was utilised by men employed by the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige and they have arrested four leaders of Vikings Confraternity.”
