The national leadership of the entire Ekiti State indigenous students wish to confirm the disbursement of the Ekiti state bursary awards to indigenous students of the state in various tertiary institutions which disbursement was approved by Ekiti State Governor on 25th April, 2020.
It is important to expressively commend the decision to prioritizing Ekiti State indigenous students’ satisfaction by His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi with disbursement of Ekiti State Bursary Award at a period when the world is being ravaged by COVID-19 crisis which has slim fitted the meagre resources utilized in management of the State is a testimony to the title “Students’ Governor” given to him by us.
Premised on the above, we acknowledge and appreciate the courage of His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for the disbursement amidst COVID-19 pandemic which has undoubtedly brought about low economy.
It is no gainsaying that the major avenue through which the students’ constituency enjoy dividends of democracy directly from the Government is via Bursary and Scholarship Awards.
However, while some of our members are thrilled on receiving payments, we note the number of qualified applicants who are not beneficiaries of the bursary awards having satisfied the requirements expected by the Ekiti State Scholarship Board.
As a virile students’ body that consistently seek the welfare promotion of her members, we share the believe that an increase in the number of beneficiaries will further complement the efforts channeled so far by the state Government as led by His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi in extending fellowship towards the students’ constituency.
As the Prime Students’ Governor of our time, we appeal for consideration of more qualified indigent students by the Ekiti State Government ably led by HE, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi. We understand the reduction in availability of resources occasioned by the Covid-19 Pandemic, nonetheless, we appeal that the Government consider more students in order to increase the beneficiaries of this good gesture while we await the approval and disbursement of the Scholarship awards.
While we believe the Students’ Governor will continue to prioritize Students’ Friendly Policies in the state, we pledge our further supports, most especially, towards full actualization of the Knowledge Economy Agenda.
Conclusively, we employ this medium to congratulate the beneficiaries of the bursary and advise them to make good use of the fund. Also, we implore our teeming members to continue taking self preventive measures by washing their hands with soap and water, observing social distancing; using nose masks and also taking heed to various Government’s directives aimed at combating and curtailing the spread of CoronaVirus in our society.
