The students of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Wednesday, visited the palace of Oloye of Oye-Ekiti to lament the frequent robbery attack on the students residing at Egbe Quarter of the town.
The student’s action followed a fresh attack on three students living in Halleluyah Hostel where laptops and phones were carted away by attackers who reportedly sued machetes and knives to threaten the students.
Opeyemi Akindele, a 100level student of Biochemistry, described her encounter with the two robbers as the worst she is experienced. She said the robbery happened around 9 pm on Wednesday, with machetes and knives pointing at them by the armed robbers.
“This is not the first time such will be happening here and nothing has been done about it both by the school management and SUG,” she lamented.
In reaction to the incidence, the students went en masse to the palace of Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Micheal Ademolaju, to report the frequency of similar incidence at Egbe Quarter and seek his help in nabbing the perpetrators.
Oba Ademolaju, having listened to the complaints of the aggrieved students, promised to bring the culprits to book very soon. He also enjoined the students to always take robbery cases to the police and not to take the law into their hands.
