The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, says the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria [ICAN] has authorized the establishment of an examination centre on its campus.
This was according to the school’s news website, which reports that the approval was contained in a correspondence sent to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution Kayode Soremekun dated November 27, 2018, by ICAN.
According to the correspondence, the approval followed the University`s request for the establishment of examination centre in its premises.
“We are pleased to inform you that the council of the institution has approved the Examination Centered. The centre is expected to start with the March 2019 diet of ATSWA examination,” the statement said. It adds that the March 2019 diet of ATSWA Examinations is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, and Wednesday, 13, 2019.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Mr Soremekun said it was one of the steps employed to showcase the fast-growing University to relevant professional bodies, the country and globe at large. This partnership with ICAN according to the don was to acquaint the institution undergraduates who wish to make a career in Accountancy with the procedures for qualifications for reading the pinnacle of the profession. He also said other members of the community can also take advantage of the partnership.
Professor Soremekun said his administration was opened to all professional bodies who would want to partner with FUOYE, assuring that ICAN will never regret its decision as it will be the beginning of a mutual and beneficial relationship between the university and the prestigious institute.
