I feel privileged to be part of the 2024 three-month-long internship organised by the Next Gen/Campus Reporter project at the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID).
I was assigned to TechCabal, a subsidiary of Big Cabal, a renowned digital media organization based in Lagos State, Nigeria, that provides insights on the digital landscape, including fintech, e-commerce, and other innovations.
Under the mentorship of my work buddy, Ngozi, my experience has been positive. Although transitioning from community engagement to tech journalism has presented some challenges, it has also allowed me to acquire practical knowledge and experience in journalism and newsroom operations.
Throughout September and October, I have been focused on learning how to write tech-driven stories that delve into innovations in cryptocurrency, fintech, transportation, e-commerce, and more.
Currently, I am collaborating with Muyiwa Olowogboyega and my editor, Ganiu Oloruntade, to develop innovative stories that explore how e-commerce platforms like Jumia, Konga, and Jiji are shaping consumer behaviour in Nigeria.
