The Osun State Government has reacted to a report published by CAMPUS REPORTER, on the neglect of physically-challenged pupils in the state’s special school.
The report, which was funded under CJID’s Campus Reporter project, shed light on the embarrassing sight of pupils’ hostels and classrooms, making the learning environment unconducive.
Aside from the absence of security guards which poses threats to the security of pupils and their teachers, the school lacks appropriate teaching materials to take care of the children’s education needs.
Reacting to our findings via his official X handle, Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson of Governor Ademola Adeleke pledged the state’s immediate intervention to renovate the school.
“Well researched report. The Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Special needs /PWD, Kamil Aransi, will take up the matter,” Rasheed said.
Like the special children in Osun, pupils with physical challenges across Nigeria hardly get quality learning support due to the poor state of schools established for them.
