SUG FUOYE Organises Online Symposium in Remembrance of September 10, 2019

The Student Union Government of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti has announced an online symposium in remembrance of late Comrade Okonofua, Joseph and Dada, Kehinde.

This programme, titled: “Securing Our Posterity with Foundation of Justice,” is set to hold on 10th of September, 2020. 

This was announced in an official memo, released on September 5th, 2020 and signed by Comrade Anifowose Tope, the A.G FUOYESU President.

Recall the September 10, 2019 incident that led to the death of two FUOYE students: Late Comrade Joseph Okonofua, fondly called Joseph Icon and a 100 level Crop Science and Horticulture student, Dada Kehinde, which also left several severely injured.

The students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti had gathered in a protest over the erratic power supply in the Oye-Ekiti community but ended up losing two of them to the bullets of the Nigerian Police.

The Memo further explained the order of the programme as follows:

A condolence visit will be paid to the family of the deceased.The students who are still around Oye-Ekiti are advised to be at the school gate by 8:00 am, ensuring the COVID-19 precautions and guidelines.

By 4:00 pm, a Zoom programme will hold on the topic: “Securing our Posterity with Foundation of Justice.”

Provided, in the memo, is a contact detail for whoever is interested in a #1,500 vest, picked for the day.

“Interested students can message Comr. Fada, the Ag. Vice President to book a vest for the day (N1500). He can be reached via 08032978655.”

Details, on how to join the Zoom meeting, will be communicated soon.
