UDU terminates studies of 12 students

Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has removed 12 students from their programmes due to poor academic performance.

All the 12 students are from the department of medical laboratory science, according to a memo released on October 23 and just obtained by our correspondent.

The expulsion of these students who were unable to meet up with the minimum requirements of the faculty was ratified by the Standing Committee of the school.

“This is to notify the following students that at its meeting of the school standing Committee held on Tuesday, 25th October 2018 their results were considered and recommended to be withdrawn from the programme due to poor academic performance,” reads the memo.

The school did not include the names of the affected students but only their matric numbers.

Our correspondent gathered that, four out of these students were admitted in 2009, and they would be totally expelled as they have exceeded the maximum year of staying in the University, which is eight years and that the remaining eight students of which three were admitted in 2013, and five were admitted in 2012 would rather change to another course, or they leave the school entirely.
