Despite declaring 25th January 2021 for the continuation of the 2019/2020 academic session, the management of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria is still expecting approval from the Kaduna State Government for the reopening of the University.
In a press statement dated 24th January 2021 and signed by the Director of Public Affairs Directorates, Malam Auwalu Umar, the State Government on Wednesday 20th January 2021 sent a verification team to specifically assess the University’s compliance to COVID-19 Preventive Protocols.

However, the result of the verification on whether the University will reopen on Monday or not is yet to be released nor approved by the State Government.
Students and their luggage can be seen at the campus gate but the gate was locked and no students can enter the University campus.
The students have expressed their dissatisfaction over the recent development and await an official statement from the management of the University on whether the resumption date is still intact or not.
