The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has announced its readiness to hold an event around e-solutions for campus insecurities, tagged: ‘UDUS Hackathon 2020.’
The announcement, which was made via a circular released by the Office of the School Registrar, disclosed that the programme is targeted at finding elegant systems for basic digital technology to create e-solutions for security challenges on the campus. It is scheduled to hold at the university auditorium on the 20th of March 2020.
The circular reads: “Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, hereby announces a technology hackathon aimed at developing indigenous innovative digital solutions to the security challenges bedevilling University Campuses and other similar environments in Nigeria.
Through this event, the university aims to bring together imaginative individual works who can conceive and develop sophisticated systems from basic digital technology,” the circular added.
Meanwhile, describing the essence of the event, the varsity noted that it is proposed to serve as an avenue for talented Nigerians to “develop ideas, prototypes, and products aimed at solving security problems facing university campuses in Nigeria.”
However, interested applicants are expected to meet certain criteria, including: “All team members must be Nigerian from any part of the country and [are] expected to not be more than a team of three individuals.
“Candidates are to submit an executive summary clearly stating their identified campus challenges and their preconceived approach to tackling them. The executive summary should not exceed 1,000 words and should include title, aims and objectives, methodology and the expected outcome of the preconceived solutions. It should be in PDF or MS word format written with the front style Time New Roman and font size of 12. It should also include diagrams and images where applicable, with a deadline for submission fixed for Monday, 28th of February, 2020.”
