Kwara State Government Reiterates Plan to Reopen Schools

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Ahmed Fatimah Bisola, has disclosed that plans are ongoing to ensure the smooth reopening of schools as soon as possible, saying that the state will not hasten resumption in an attempt to copy neighbouring states.

This disclosure was made in a press statement posted by the commissioner via her verified Facebook handle.

Fatimah explained that the State is working hard to ensure that adequate measures are put in a position to avoid risking the lives of the pupils, students as well as the Government’s staff at various schools.

She noted that the State will not reopen schools just because some other states have announced they are reopening theirs.

She further reiterated that the state will reopen schools as soon as adequate measures are put in place by the ministry.

She, however, implored the parents to sensitise their wards on the danger of coronavirus and safety measures to prevent it.

“They should make them know that they are not just staying at home for the sake of staying at home. [The] COVID-19 pandemic situation has forced them to stay at home and now that we are preparing to go back to school, they must be adequately sensitised on the risks of not complying to the laid down guidelines by the NCDC and the importance of keeping good hygiene at all times,” she said.
