“I Stand Gidigba With Women,” – Akeredolu

“International Women’s Day is a mixture of hope and despair that I identify with our womenfolk. Be hopeful because the journey to the final berth of the most desirable moment shall remain undaunted.”

The Governor described the rejection of the special bill for women, as a great setback and path of posterity.

“It is also undoubtful and a sting of despair that there are still fundamental existential challenges confronting us all in the journey,” he said.

This was contained in a press statement that was released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde.

Akeredolu warned: “It is a great setback because we have disrobed ourselves of an ample opportunity for progress and development and the world is watching.

“However, in unambiguous terms, our women have come of age and their virtuous and indelible mark of honour as well as dexterous individual determinations, not only towards self-development but they displayed benevolence and compassion for humanity are huge narratives that cannot be discountenanced by society.”

In addition, Akeredolu said he must salute the courage of the House of Representatives that has demonstrated its readiness to align the mood of the Nation.

The Green Chambers, by the decision to revisit the bill clearly, shows that all hope is not lost. Assuring women that he, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) shall alongside a person of like-mind, leverage on the window of hope to break the yoke of oppression against Women.

Finally, Akeredolu said he stands ‘Gidigba’ with women on the course and many others to liberate women from artificial barricades and shackles constructed by men and the society at large.

“Not even the challenge of the seemingly natural men of needless envy that pervades the women folk itself can discourage me,” he added.

“Ji Masun, ti e ba sun o lewu [wake up, do not sleep, careless sleep has consequences],” Akeredolu added.
